Memory Lane Clocks

    Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is the difference between a "1-day cuckoo clock" and an "8-day cuckoo clock"?
Black Forest cuckoo clocks are driven by a mechanical clockwork which is run by weights under the clock. To keep them working you have to pull up the weights from time to time. With an eight-day cuckoo clock, you have to do this once a week, with a one-day cuckoo clock, each 24 hours.
  • What music do your clocks play?
Most of our clocks do play the two melodies: "Der fröhliche Wanderer" and "Edelweiß". Clocks with beer drinkers play "Trink, Brüderlein, trink" and "In München steht ein Hofbräuhaus", two traditional Octoberfest songs.

8-day cuckoo clocks play their two melodies each and every other hour, 1-day clocks play one melody on the half and one on the full hour.
  • Do your clocks have a night shut-off?
Yes, every clock has a night time shut-off.  If the clock has music it shuts off the music and the cuckoo.  If it has only a cuckoo, it shuts off the cuckoo.
  • What type of wood is used for your carvings?
Our carvings are made of linden wood.
  • I live in the USA/Canada. How long does it take until the clock reaches me?
This usually takes 2-3 weeks.
What kind of warranty do you provide for you clocks?

We provide one year of warranty. Of course the clocks are insured against transportation loss or damage.
